Everything new mothers ask us about postnatal care, belly binding, and getting your body back — explained in plain language.
Postpartum recovery is the care your body needs in the weeks after birth. In Chinese culture this period is known as confinement, or 坐月. Good postnatal care helps your uterus shrink back to size, your abdominal wall heal, and your energy slowly return. Our nurse-led postpartum massage supports each of these steps in your own home, so you never have to travel with a newborn.
Prenatal massage (pre natal) is given during pregnancy. It is meant to ease the discomfort of a growing bump. It is usually done in a comfortable reclined position and focuses on the neck, the shoulders and lower legs.
Postpartum massage (post natal) is different. It begins after birth and works on the abdomen, the uterus, and the connective tissue that stretched during pregnancy. We specialise in postnatal massage, but the same gentle, nurse-trained touch can also ease the discomfort in your neck and shoulders after long nights of feeding.
Belly binding in Hong Kong — known as 紮肚 — wraps a long cloth firmly around your midsection. We use two traditional methods: bengkung and rebozo. Binding supports the abdominal wall, helps close the diastasis recti gap, improves posture, and gives gentle compression that many mothers find comforting. Because our practitioner is a registered nurse, the wrap is applied with proper knowledge of your anatomy — never too tight, never unsafe.
Diastasis recti is the natural separation of the rectus abdominis muscles during pregnancy. It affects up to 60% of women after birth. The gap runs along the connective tissue of the linea alba in your abdominal wall.
Healing is not only about the gap. Your pelvic floor also weakens during pregnancy and birth. We measure your diastasis recti at every visit and use targeted massage and binding to support both the abdominal wall and the pelvic floor as they recover together.
A confinement nanny in Hong Kong — known as 月嫂 — usually lives with your family for a month. She helps with cooking, household tasks, infant care, baby care, and overnight feeds.
Our service is different, and the two work well together. A confinement nanny looks after your daily routine and your baby. We focus only on your physical recovery — postpartum massage, belly binding, diastasis recti, and C-section scar care. Many Hong Kong mothers book both at the same time: a confinement nanny for baby care, and our nurse for their own body.
Whenever you are ready, we will meet you at home, anywhere across Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, and the New Territories.
Traditional belly binding (bengkung) uses a long cotton cloth, wrapped layer by layer by hand and tailored to your body. The tension is adjusted from session to session as your diastasis recti gap narrows and your body recovers — it is about technique, placement, and pressure, not just support.
A shop-bought binding belt (postpartum support band) is convenient, but it is one fixed size that rarely follows your changing postpartum shape, and worn too tightly it can press on the pelvic floor. Alongside binding, we show you how to use a support belt correctly day to day — the two work together, they don't compete.
Belly binding in Hong Kong typically costs HKD 1,000–1,500 per session, with traditional binding usually at the higher end; some spa and beauty venues charge HKD 2,400+. Our packages work out to HKD 1,100–1,300 per session and already include the registered-nurse assessment, abdominal massage, and binding — transparent pricing, no hidden extras.
When choosing a service, look beyond price: does the practitioner hold a nursing or medical qualification? Do they assess diastasis recti? How do they handle a C-section scar? Do they really come to your home? These — not just who is cheapest or most recommended — decide how safe and effective your recovery is.
Traditional postpartum wellness — the Chinese practice of confinement, 坐月 — is about restoring the body from the inside out. Binding helps the abdominal wall and uterus recover, but complete recovery also needs rest, balanced nutrition, hydration, and a gradual return to pelvic-floor and core movement.
As a registered nurse, at every home visit we tailor wellness guidance — nutrition, posture, and exercise — to your stage of recovery. It is never just binding; it is walking the full postpartum recovery journey with you.
